| Plettenberg bay certainly live up to its original name “Bahia Formosa” (beautiful bay), given it by Manuel da Perestrello in 1577. Archaeological findings in the Nelson Bay cave and Matjes River cave indicate that these caves were inhabited for years by the middle Stone Age man and later by the ancestors of the Khoisan. |

| Plettenberg bay has magnificent spacious stretched of beaches, ideal for swimming, surfing and long long walks during which you might be lucky enough to find one of the rare pansy shells. For the fit a walk to the end of the Robberg Promontory is most exhilarating. With some fine soft coral reefs, Plettenberg Bay and Tsitsikamma offer excellent scuba diving and snorkelling opportunities, fishing, and mountain biking are popular while golf, bowls and tennis may be enjoyed at the numerous country clubs. |
