December is our birthday month, and we’ve turned 30! I’d like to thank all of you who have supported us over the years and helped us to reach this fantastic milestone. Here’s to the next 30 years – and then 30 more!
And what better time to be a party mood! December is one of the busiest and most vibrant times of the year, and we’re excited to celebrate our birthday, as well as the summer weather and the holiday season, here in the Garden Route. |

As always, there’s so much on offer for locals and visitors alike during the Festive Season. After all, the Garden Route is one of the most popular summer holiday destinations in South Africa, and there’s a host of activities taking place to pique every interest

Kicking off in Mossel Bay on December 10 is Summer Blast, which offers month of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages, as well as delectable food, live music, braais, buffets, competitions, karaoke and more. The main event is the candlelit market on December 21, a local music show on the 28th, and the famous Blasters Christmas lunch.
Next up is the Stilbaai Arts and Crafts fair from December 16-18 – a great place to do your Christmas shopping. From delicious treats to hand-made crafts, books and fresh organic veggies, you’ll find a wealth of goodies at the market. |

Also starting on December 16 is the highly anticipated Knysna Beach Festival, featuring beach games, exciting live events, beauty booths and even a sandcastle competition for the kids!
As always, there’s something to interest all MTB fanatics in the Garden Route. The Rock Pedal Classic MTB Tour takes place in George on 17 December, the start of which is hailed in the traditional way with the crack of a whip! The tough but beautiful 55km journey takes cyclists over the Montagu Pass and through the Little Karoo before ending at Louvain outside George.

Two more sizzling beach events take place later in December, starting with the Sedgefield Beach Festival from 18 December, and followed by the Herolds Bay Beach Festival soon after Christmas (dates to be confirmed). Both offer endless hours of fun in the sun for all ages, including games, competitions, promotions, bikini pageants and fantastic after-parties.
Also don't forget Winkel ini Woud, and exclusive gift market held at the Far Hills Country Hotel in the luscious green outskirts of George, from 12th to 17 December. There are also some great wine festivals taking place during this, the cheeriest time of year! First is the Hartenbos Wine Festival on 20 December, where you can taste and purchase wines from the beautiful Klein Karoo wine route. Then it’s time for the Bottomless Barrels Wine Festival on December 21 in George, which – apart from the abundance of quality varietals on offer – also features live music, kiddies’ events, giveaways and food-and-wine pairings.
The annual Summer Sun Festival in Mossel Bay, starting on December 27, wraps up the month and takes us into the new year with a host of fabulous outdoor events, competitions, games, live bands and events, and refreshing beer tents! It also includes a fantastic New Year’s Eve party, and of course, the summer’s hottest beach bodies!

You certainly won’t be short of things to do in the Garden Route this December.
