Happy New Year, and welcome to 2011! We hope you had a fantastic festive season, soaking up the beautiful South African sunshine and relaxing with your friends and loved ones. Some of you may still be on holiday, while others are back in the swing of things, tackling a fresh year and all the challenges and excitement it promises to bring. |

| George and the Garden Route were an absolute hive of activity over the festive season. From world-class golfing to beach festivals, Christmas parties and New Year’s celebrations, our little neck of the woods offered plenty of entertainment for everyone. For those of you who joined us, we hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did! |

2011 events in George and the Garden Route |

Now that the festive season has come to a close, our towns are slowly easing into 2011. January is a fairly quiet month in the Garden Route, but things will soon start to heat up. Over the next few months, there’ll be plenty of fabulous events on offer – including the Outeniqua Expo and Festival in our own town of George, taking place in March, the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival in April, and the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras later the same month.

| And of course, everyone knows about the fantastic foodie events that take place in the Garden Route towards the middle of the year. You can look forward to the Knysna Oyster Festival , the George Cheese show, and plenty of wine expos, events and tastings. |

| For golf nuts, George is a haven of pristine greens, challenging courses and spectacular scenery. George is home to a number of the country’s leading golf courses, including Fancourt, Kingswood Golf Estate, Oubaai Golf Club and the George Golf Course – a favourite among local and international visitors. |
