We’re just a few months away from the festive season break, and how quickly this year has flown! November is a fairly restful time in the Garden Route, as we take it easy before a bustling and busy December.
We’re into the final stretch of the year - time to wrap up your year’s work, help kids to prepare for exams, and of course, plan your end of year vacation (or staycation, for those staying home!). And although you may need to put in a bit of extra effort at work or home, the taste of the holiday season, just weeks away, makes it that much easier to complete the final stretch.

However, if you’re in need of a holiday before the holidays, this is a great time to visit the garden route. For golf fanatics, there are a couple of noteworthy events taking place (more on these below). And for those just seeking a quiet retreat into nature, the tranquil ambience of late spring in the Garden Route makes for a blissful and restorative holiday.
As always, we’ll be keeping our Facebook and Twitter pages updated with the latest news from the garden route, including updates about events, festivals and sports. So be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to stay abreast of the freshest Garden Route news and Pine Lodge Resort special offers, golfing packages and competitions.

Upcoming events in George and the Garden Route
One of the most exciting golfing events of the year takes place in George in just a few weeks! The Gary Player Invitational, South Africa’s leading pro-celebrity charity golfing event, will be held from 18-21 November 2010 at Fancourt, one of the country’s top golfing, leisure and business resorts.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Player Foundation, and in honour of this milestone, an elite group of golfing professionals, celebrities and esteemed individuals will gather at the resort to kick off the tournament. 32 leading golfers will take part in the event, and money raised will go to The Player Foundation, the Children’s Welfare Organisation in George, and local charities in South Africa.

For those who prefer peddling to putting, the Animal To Hell and Back MTB event is an exceptionally rewarding race. Established 15 years ago, this 60km annual cycling challenge is highly popular among avid mountain bikers, and takes place in Oudtshoorn from 11-14 November 2010.
As soon as December rolls around, the line-up of festivals kicks into high gear, starting with the Knysna Annual Beach Festival which runs for the entire month. Other events worth nothing are the 2-day Great Outeniqua MTB tour starting on 8 December

And of course, this year our humble town will be hosting the Emirates Airlines SA Sevens 2010, from 10-11 December 2010, where 16 of the world’s top rugby teams compete for the championship title. It’s the ultimate South African sporting event, so be sure to book your tickets and accommodation early - folks, you don’t want to miss it!
